Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid beat PSG 3-1 in the Champions League to put one foot in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The 33-year-old was expected to struggle, having endured a nightmare campaign so far, but stood out from everyone else to fire Zinedine Zidane’s side to a much-needed win.
And Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim that, with his heroics, Ronaldo silenced three people who had written him off.
The first of those was Isco.
Isco was given the chance to start despite reports saying Ronaldo had asked Real Madrid manager Zidane to leave him out.
And the Spain international did little to justify his inclusion, struggling to get into the game and cope with PSG’s attacking rhythm.
Another person silenced was Neymar who is said to be keen to join Real Madrid in 2019.
Based on this showing, the Brazil international still has much to learn.
And Ronaldo’s heroics showed that he, despite turning 33 earlier this month, remains top dog.
Diario Gol add the former Manchester United star’s goals also served to hurt Florentino Perez.
The Real president has been reluctant to hand Ronaldo the contract extension he craves given his wayward form.
But, against PSG, Ronaldo did enough to show he is not ready to be given up on just yet.
Real will now be favourites to go through to the quarter-finals.
PSG will need to mount a huge comeback which, based on this showing, looks beyond them.
