Philippe Coutinho has long been linked with a move to Barcelona and it seems a January deal is close to being agreed.
Reports suggest a fee in the region of £130million is being discussed as the Reds are coming round to the idea of selling the 25-year-old.
Coutinho is expected to be the much-needed replacement for Neymar, who departed the Nou Camp for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
And Brazil legend Rivaldo thinks he should have no problem filling his boots, tipping the 25-year-old to hit the ground running with Barca.
“Coutinho is a very good player and if he ends up signing for Barcelona, he will succeed easily,” Rivaldo told Spanish newspaper Marca.
“I think he has the characteristics that a footballer needs to succeed in Barcelona.
“The style of play will suit him and fans will give him time to adapt, I think he will succeed.”
And Rivaldo also gave his insight into why Neymar departed the Nou Camp, revealing he had to get out of Lionel Messi’s shadow.
“It was a difficult moment, it made the team pessimistic,” he added.
“Neymar went, principally, because they made him a very good offer.
“Playing in Barcelona, he was in the shadow of Messi and although he was doing very well, Messi is Messi and he has many years left in him.
“I think Neymar left here to try to see if he is the best in the world. If he wants to be it, he will have to knock Cristiano Ronaldo out of the Champions League in the knockout stages in February.”
